A New Chapter - Annie Cope Named CEO as Cope & Co. Becomes a Founding Member
It’s an exciting new chapter for Cope & Co. As Annie Cope steps into the role of CEO and the business is also celebrating its appointment as a Founding Member of Leading Estate Agents of the World. For us, this is a very proud milestone that reflects bold leadership, shared ambition and a commitment to setting even higher standards.
There are moments in the life of a business that feel like the beginning of a new chapter. For me, this is certainly one of them.
I’m incredibly proud to share that Cope & Co. has been chosen as a Founding Member of Leading Estate Agents of the World, a newly formed network bringing together estate and letting agencies committed to raising standards, sharing knowledge and continually improving the experience they provide for their clients.
The announcement feels particularly significant because it comes as I step into my new role as CEO of Cope & Co.
I can’t think of a more fitting way to mark my appointment.

A new chapter for me, and for Cope & Co.
Taking on the role of CEO carries a very personal significance for me. Cope & Co. is a business that has been overseen with enormous care by my mum, Susan Cope, and I feel incredibly proud, and genuinely honoured, to now take on the responsibility of leading it into its next chapter. Knowing that Susan and Daren have the trust and confidence in me to take the business forward means a great deal, and I’m determined to build on everything that has brought Cope & Co. to where it is today.
And while my role may be changing, this will very much continue to be a family journey. As Sales Director, my brother James will always be there to offer his support, energy and drive as we move the business forward. Having that experience, encouragement and shared ambition around me gives me huge confidence as we look to the future, respecting what has made Cope & Co. special while being ambitious about everything we can become.
Taking on the responsibility of leading the business means thinking not only about where we are today, but about the kind of company we want Cope & Co. to become in the years ahead.
For me, leadership is not about assuming that because something has worked in the past, it will always be the right way of doing things. It means continuing to question ourselves, learning from others, embracing new ideas and looking for ways to give our clients an even better experience.
That is why our invitation to become a Founding Member of Leading Estate Agents of the World feels so timely.
As I begin my time as CEO, it gives us the opportunity to make a very clear statement about the direction I want us to take as a business: ambitious, open-minded, transparent and always looking to improve.

What being a Founding Member means to me
The words Founding Member are important.
We are not simply joining an established organisation or adding another logo to our website. Cope & Co. is becoming part of Leading Estate Agents of the World at the very beginning of its journey.
The network has been created around a belief I strongly share; being a leading estate or letting agent should be about much more than transaction numbers, market share or the number of properties on your books. Yes, those things can tell you something about a business, but they don’t tell you everything.
For anyone choosing an estate or letting agent, what really matters is the quality of the advice you receive, how well you are communicated with, how problems are dealt with and whether the people representing you genuinely understand the responsibility you have placed in their hands.
Being selected as a Founding Member is therefore something I’m extremely proud of, but I also see it as a commitment. It isn’t an award we receive once and then forget about, it's a commitment to keep learning, keep developing and keep challenging ourselves to get better and that is the part of the membership that excites me most.

Learning from other leading businesses
One of the strengths of the Leading Estate Agents of the World Network is the opportunity for members to come together regularly, both in person and online, to exchange ideas, learn from specialists and discuss how the modern estate and lettings industry needs to evolve.
Importantly, those conversations go far beyond selling and letting property, they cover leadership, customer experience, technology, communication, marketing, legislation, business development and the changing expectations of sellers, landlords, buyers and tenants.
As CEO, I want Cope & Co. to be a business that is always looking outside its own four walls. There is enormous value in learning from other ambitious businesses, challenging your own thinking and being prepared to change when you discover a better way because, ultimately, our clients should be the people who benefit from that.

More than a membership badge
Another reason I’m so pleased for Cope & Co. to become a Founding Member is the emphasis Leading Estate Agents of the World places on transparency.
As part of the membership process, we took part in an in-depth interview looking beyond property listings and sales results to explore the story and thinking behind Cope & Co. It looks at why we do what we do, the values that influence our decisions, the standards we want our clients to experience and the people we are best placed to help.
Our dedicated Leading Estate Agents of the World membership profile goes a step further. Rather than simply asking people to accept what an estate agent says about itself, the profile is designed to provide a more rounded picture of the business.
That includes open information about performance, such as how long properties typically take to sell, our success rate in achieving a sale and how closely achieved prices compare with original asking prices. It also looks at the things numbers alone cannot explain; our values, our ethics, our beliefs, the story behind Cope & Co. and the standards we set ourselves.
Clients should be able to understand not only what an estate agent achieves, but how it operates.

What leadership means to me
Property decisions are rarely small decisions. Selling a home, moving house, buying a property or trusting someone to manage an investment can involve substantial financial and emotional considerations.
The person advising you matters.
How they communicate matters.
How they respond when something becomes difficult matters.
And their willingness to keep learning and improving matters too.
That is what being a leading estate agent means to me. It's also why becoming a Founding Member of Leading Estate Agents of the World feels like such an appropriate way to begin this next stage of my career as CEO of Cope & Co.
I’m proud of what our team has already achieved, but I’m even more excited about where we can go from here. Our Founding Membership is not a declaration that we have finished developing. Quite the opposite in fact, for me, it is a statement of intent.
It says that we want to keep learning. We want to collaborate with some of the best businesses in our industry. We want to be open about how we perform, and, above all, we want to keep raising the standard of the experience we provide to the people who trust Cope & Co. with their property.
It feels like exactly the right note on which to begin my time as CEO.
